Locktopus

What is it?

Locktopus is an iOS modification for jailbroken devices that allows you to password-protect individual applications directly from the home screen. Locktopus will prevent locked applications from being launched unless the correct password is provided.

Does it work on my device?

Locktopus works on all devices with modern, jailbroken firmwares (3.x-4.x).

What does it look like?

There is no homescreen icon or standalone application; Locktopus just becomes part of iOS. When the home screen is in edit mode (when the icons are wiggling), Locktopus gives each icon a button used to lock or unlock the application.

Locktopus 2

Locktopus 2 is a free update for current customers. The tweak has been completely rewritten and adds the following new features:

• Deletion of locked apps requires password entry.
• With "Sessions", one password entry allows you to perform multiple unlock/launch/delete operations in sequence. When you enter a password correctly, a session is started. For as long as the session is valid, no password is required to perform an operation. After a certain number of seconds, or after a certain number of operations have been performed, the session becomes invalid. This feature saves time while preserving security. "Sessions" can be enabled or disabled with ease.
• Option in Settings to disable Locktopus, no respring required. (Note: you must enter the password before you can disable Locktopus.)
• Significantly less memory usage.
• Several bug fixes.
• Fresh new Settings pane which allows you to lock/unlock apps en masse.
• Built-in localization support. Multi-lingual users are encouraged to submit translations (more info will be available soon.)
